Originally published on DevToolHub.
We pulled every entry from the official MCP registry API. As of September 10, 2026: 30,375 unique servers from 99,114 version records, ~3x growth since May 2026.
The count is top-heavy
Top 10 publishers = 17.7% of the registry. The largest account has 1,505 single-function micro-tools. 276 entries share the exact string "Premium agentic endpoint for [x]-mcp."
Remote won
55% remote-only (almost all streamable-http), 39% local packages (npm leads, then PyPI, then Claude Desktop bundles).
Most servers aren't maintained
62% have one version. 41% are still on a first release. ~36% not updated in 3+ months — they predate the 2026-07-28 spec changes.
No safety signal
The schema has no auth field, no security review, no uptime check. 23% link no source repo (37% for remote-only). com.anthropic has zero entries.
